Bea Echeverría, Painter, San Juan P.R.
Painter recently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University. It features medium to large-sized paintings worked in oil, acrylic and collage on canvas. The paintings in this exhibition serve as portals to a tropical place of vibrant color and reflective character. The scenes are fragmented by collaged elements, by light and darkness, by variations in color and textures and by detailed moments versus blurry or imprecise others. Such contrasts convey the inconsistent and fragile nature of our memories and moods. Among the landscapes there are areas designated for individual or collective rest and sharing that are unoccupied and/or in the process of abandonment.
