CLAUDIA CARBONELL PERICOT

Claudia Carbonell Pericot (1995, San Juan, PR) is a photographer and videographer. Her professional career has primarily focused on documentary and commercial work. Additionally, she has documented cultural events across the island, as well as social movements related to feminist and human rights activism. Her work has been exhibited in San Juan, Santo Domingo, Madrid, and New York.

Through photographic documentation of the festivity, Claudia has created a unique body of work that explores and celebrates the small-town tradition of Hatillo Carnival. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, her photographs seek to foster appreciation and understanding of Caribbean cultural identity.

Her work captures vibrant and colorful scenes, displaying a keen eye for detail, emphasizing the intricate designs and bright colors of costumes worn by participants. The use of vivid colors and the attention to textures and patterns highlight the richness of the cultural expressions being documented, bringing the viewer closer to the subjects and their cultural significance.
